"You've Had the Gender Reveal, the Baby Shower, and the Baby—Now It's Time to Celebrate the One Gift That Lasts a Lifetime: Their Name!"
Celebrating Life, Love, and New Beginnings
Welcoming a new baby into the world is one of life’s most joyful and transformative experiences. It marks the beginning of a new chapter—not only for the child, but for the entire family.
My name is Lesley, and I specialise in creating unique, personalised and deeply meaningful ceremonies that reflect the love, hopes, and values of every family I work with.
One of the most beautiful ways to honour this life-changing moment is with a naming ceremony.
What is a Naming Ceremony?
A naming ceremony is a non-religious celebration that symbolically bestows a name upon a child and welcomes them into their family and community. Unlike traditional religious christenings or baptisms, a celebrant-led naming ceremony is completely personalised and inclusive. It can take place anywhere—your home, in a garden, a favourite park, or even a local hall.
I craft the ceremony around your family’s story, your hopes for your child’s future, and the values you want to pass on.
Why is it Important?
1. Celebrating a New Life I believe every child deserves to be celebrated. A naming ceremony offers a meaningful way to pause, reflect, and honour the incredible arrival of your baby. It’s a chance to acknowledge the love that surrounds them and the journey ahead.
2. The Power of a Name Names carry deep personal, cultural, and sometimes spiritual meaning. They connect us to our heritage, our loved ones, and our identity. A naming ceremony gives you the space to share why you chose your child’s name, what it means to you, and what hopes or qualities you wish to inspire in your child.
3. Creating Community and Connection Naming ceremonies bring family and friends together in a truly heartfelt celebration. It’s not just about the child—it’s about the support network that will guide, love, and nurture them throughout their life. You can also involve key people (or godparents, mentors, or guardians), who pledge their support and guidance for the child’s future.
4. Honouring Cultural Traditions (or Creating Your Own) Naming rituals are significant across many cultures—from African naming rites to Hindu Namkaran, to Indigenous baby blessings. I will work with you to create a ceremony that can
embrace your heritage or blend elements from different traditions. Or, if you're starting your own family customs, we can create something brand new that reflects your values and beliefs.
5. Marking the Moment in a Way That’s Truly You There are no rules with my ceremonies. Whether you want to include poems, music, symbolic gestures like tree planting, or invite loved ones to share readings or blessings, I’ll help you design a ceremony that’s memorable, inclusive, and completely unique to your family.
A Ceremony Full of Heart
As your celebrant, I’m here to guide you through every step—from crafting the ceremony and choosing readings, to helping siblings or grandparents take part in special moments. It’s not about formality—it’s about meaning, joy, love and connection.
Ready to Celebrate?
If you're planning to welcome a new child into your family—whether by birth, adoption, or blending families—a naming ceremony is a beautiful way to honour that journey. Together, we’ll create something unforgettable, filled with warmth, love, and everything that makes your family special.
💫 Because every name has a story—and every child deserves a celebration.
